Barajas airport, Madrid

With the extension, Madrid's airport Barajas is one of the ladgest airports in Europe. The extension which covers some 600.000 m2 is dived into two parts, the Satellite and the Terminal. The Satelitte is the headquarters of the airport and handles international flights, and in the Terminal passengers, luggage and departures are located. An important criteria for the property owner AENA was to provide a stable indoor climate for passengers and employees of the airport.

TA was contacted to help the property owner and installer with design support. TA came up with a variable flow system. The balancing solution used is Differential Pressure Controller combined with STAD, STAF and Regulator valves.  Different balancing valves were used depending on the building. In the “Satellite” we have used 655 valves STAD in all their ranges, between DN20 up to DN50, 157 STAF in ranges between DN65 up to DN300, 28 STAP in ranges between DN15 up to DN50 and 4 STAP DN16 up to DN 100, as well as REGULATOR in ranges from DN50 to DN150. In the “Terminal” we can find 87 REGULATOR valves.

The TA solution including design support, technical support and balancing valves assures a fully controllable hydronic system that will deliver a comfortable indoor climate at lowest possible energy costs.
